Brian Wheeler donated to the Momentum Center. In addition to being appointed GHAPS Anti-Racism Task Force liaison, and becoming a board member, Brian Wheeler made more than one financial donation to the Anti-Racism Task Force. We now know where the money came from, so the next obvious question is how much money did he donate? Unfortunately, that remains unclear, but hopefully the local authorities are investigating the exact amounts in connection with the Brian Wheeler $950,000 embezzlement case.
His first donation was made before he became a board member which begs the question, “was this donation tied to his appointment on the board?” I doubt it. Brian was a excellent fit. He had access to GHAPS technology and had influence with key decision-making personnel.
Brian made a later donation in May 2021 by placing a “winning” bid on a silent auction item. That donation was followed with the donation of a 60” television in August 2021.
Who’s money was donated to the Anti-Racism Task Force? Where was this money intended to go? It is not clear if Brian Wheeler donated the 60” television, or if the television was donated by GHAPS. What is clear is that Brian Wheeler was accused of embezzling nearly $1 million from GHAPS and that the GHAPS school board and administrative personnel are not following policy.
Given this lack of integrity, an internal forensic audit is not likely to bring about any consequences. Someone from the outside must look into these issues.
