In May 2021, when the Grand Haven High School prom was cancelled, the Anti-Racism Task Force held a prom event at the Trillium in Spring Lake. Their first choice was to hold their prom at Central High School in Grand Haven, after all, the students didn’t need it.
Tickets for prom cost $25 each and both teens and adults were welcome for the celebration “FUNDRAISING” event.
The prom featured a silent auction in which the proceeds went to benefit the Anti-Racism Task Force.
One item up for bid was a dinner for 8, prepared by a local private chef. Brian Wheeler made the winning bid for the dinner. This was at least Brian’s second donation to the Anti-Racism Task Force.
Overall, the prom was a great success for the Anti-Racism Task Force. They raised $40,000 that night. How much of our tax money was funneled to the Momentum Center in the name of prom donations?
The Momentum Center hosted another prom on May 21, 2022 which included a cash bar. This sounds a little different than my high school prom. I wonder how much money was donated this year?
