It has been done. A rating system for books in school libraries similar to movie ratings has been created.
A group of concerned citizens, Book Looks, is working to rate books and created the rating system shown above. Another excellent resource, RATEDbooks.org is also working to rate books and make the public aware of what is happening in their schools. What’s more, these groups have already rated many of the books found in GHAPS libraries.
The Content Based Rating system shown above rates books based on sexual content, violence and drug and alcohol use. It does not take into account indoctrination concepts such as critical race theory that are used to divide people. Therefore, in addition to their rating system, we feel it is important to add an additional indoctrination rating system.
Several books available to children through the GHAPS libraries have been reviewed by Restore Ottawa. The ratings assigned by Restore Ottawa are shown below. For a more extensive list of rated books please visit the references listed above. They are doing an excellent job plowing through the mountain of questionable books found in schools.
