Action Items for Parents
Did you know that one of the top goals of Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is to data mine our children? Well, Courage is a Habit has a form you can bring to your child’s school that will opt him/her out of all surveys and questionnaires. Click on Data Mining Opt-Out. Print page 8, fill out form and bring to your child’s school.
Find out the policies of your school districts and teachers. Click on 10 Questions for Parents – Select 2 questions to ask your child’s teacher or principal. Here are sample questions:
Do you allow your students to choose their preferred pronouns? If so, do you notify parents if a child chooses a pronoun other than what is used at home? How long does it take you to notify a parent if this occurs?
Asking these questions is an easy way for you to let schools know you care. The more people that ask these questions, the more school personnel will consider your point of view when making future decisions.
