After agreeing to serve the remaining five months of a term on the Grand Haven Board of Light and Power nearly 19 years ago, BLP board member Gerry Witherell attended his final meeting as a board member this week. He took the opportunity to plead with residents and community leaders to act in the best interest of the city. Clearly frustrated with events that have taken place over the last few years, Gerry provided insight into the root of the strife. He still has hope that everyone will drop their personal agendas and put the customers’ electricity needs first. Gerry’s love for the City of Grand Haven is evident, as well as his belief that the current arrangement between the BLP and the City is the most effective for local electricity needs.
