Grand Haven Area Public Schools middle school choir has gone gender neutral. Two years ago, during the 2020-21 school year, the uniform consisted of formal wear complete with masks for both the boys and the girls. The girls wore elegant formal dresses while the boys wore button down shirts with formal vests. For many 7th and 8th grade students this is their first experience wearing such formal clothing. Dressing this way is a small but significant right-of-passage into adolescence.
Last year (2021-22 school year), with a portion of the population buying into the idea that there are multiple genders, GHAPS made the decision to update the choir uniforms to be gender neutral. In an attempt to be inclusive, ALL of the students will be wearing men’s polo shirts.
Here is the letter from GHAPS explaining the change.
So, now instead of having a special evening with formal dress attire, the children are wearing men’s style polo shirts. This may seem like an insignificant change, but it is yet another example of the attack on our women and children. This incremental attempt to eliminate distinction between the sexes by implementing a gender ideology results in confusion and loss of identity. This is happening in schools across America.
There is a strong push to blur the lines of gender. No longer is a girl a girl or a boy a boy. Today, schools across America are teaching children that there is no discernible difference, and if you believe there is a difference, you can decide what you want to be.
