Student enrollment in Grand Haven Area Public Schools has been dropping for at least five years and is forecast to continue. Meanwhile, enrollment in schools such as Grand Haven Christian is soaring. Despite this reality, GHAPS leadership is determined to build a new middle school near the intersection of 152nd and Lincoln. During the 2021-2022 school year alone, the decline in enrollment resulted in a loss of nearly $4 million of potential income.
