The GHAPS school district leadership has plans to indoctrinate all staff, students, families and community members in the principles of Critical Race Theory. They plan to have indoctrination happen in that order. In other words, a few leaders will indoctrinate a team, who will indoctrinate the staff, who will indoctrinate the students, who will indoctrinate their parents, who will indoctrinate the community. This is already happening.
Proponents of Critical Race Theory and related teachings know that there is strong opposition to their ideas, so they work very methodically and try to hide what they are doing from the public at large, until the number of people they have indoctrinated has grown large enough that the remaining public has a difficult time fighting back. One way they work to hide their efforts is by redefining words and referring to critical race theory by different names. Some common names for similar teachings are anti-racism, diversity, equity, and inclusion, social-emotional learning, trauma training, critical literacy, Cultivating Genius, and Windows, Mirrors and Sliding Glass Doors. Unfortunately, this list of code words is growing every day and it’s difficult to keep up.
At GHAPS a large portion of this indoctrination was started with Deanna Rolffs, a consultant from Design Group International and the Director of Instructional Services, Mary Jane Evink. These two ring-leaders obtained support of Superintendent Scott Grimes, former Assistant-Superintendent Brian Wheeler, and former Superintendent Andy Ingall. Then they formed the district Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) committee. They hand-picked the committee, and filled it with school employees and community leaders who mostly had similar political ideologies. The committee consists of the following members.
Kate Augustyn – GHAPS Special Education Director
Tarsha Barnett – Social Worker, Lakeshore
Hailey Barton – GHHS Special Education Teacher, Teacher Lead for Calling All Colors
Tammy Basil – Counselor, Lakeshore
Marisa Bradford – former student social worker intern, server at Poquito
Amy Cahalan – Science Teacher, Lakeshore
Kate Drake – Principal, Peach Plains
Marc Eickholt – GHAPS School Board
Kara Endsley – GHAPS Reading Specialist
Mary Jane Evink – Director of Instructional Services
Scott Grimes – GHAPS Superintendent
Jason Klinger – GHHS World History
Sarah McElrath – Middle School Librarian
Tracey Nauta – Home Realty Staff, former GHAPS School Board Candidate
Safornia Pierce – 6th Grade Teacher, White Pines
Jason Reinecke – GHAPS Assistant Superintendent
Deanna Rolffs – Design Group International, Inc
Melissa Sanborn – 2nd Grade Teacher, Robinson
Erin Shillenger – 6th Grade Teacher, White Pines
Gina Schmitt – GHHS Assistant Principal
Noele Stith – Design Group International, Inc
Tim Taylor – Head Pastor Hope Church
The DEIB Committee is responsible for planning district wide professional development. In addition, many members of the DEIB committee hold key influential roles. For example, there are principles, assistant principals and pastors, as wells as numerous teachers, and even a school board member.
The DEIB committee has a purpose statement as well as goals which describe their indoctrination within a word salad.
DEIB Committee Purpose Statement
We want all of our students and staff to feel like they belong. To do this, we will re-engage collective thinking on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) with a smaller group of committed individuals. The goal is to create learning for all staff and families around race, gender, and sensitive topics in a way that resembles personal hygiene - do an appropriate amount every day so we become fluent and efficacious on the topic of belonging. We will proactively plan staff learning for the coming year. This will include, but will not be limited to, professional development, book studies, staff email, curriculum enhancement, and parent engagement. We want to honor the staff's request to grow our skills and efficacy with how to have brave and courageous conversations.
DEIB Committee Goals
Grow relational trust among this committee, school, family, and community.
Plan and deliver district DEIB professional development with a variety of venues and offerings, resembling personal hygiene.
Specifically provide professional development on brave and courageous conversations, leading to increased efficacy talking about race, gender, and sensitive topics.
Increased comfort/belonging of students and staff and decreased RESISTANCE to these efforts. Collective understanding. Measure this.
Committee and staff are able to describe our work and respond to those who have questions or concerns
Bring families along so they grow with us.
The district has already made great strides in achieving their goals. The committee is formed, GHAPS staff have been subjected to two years of CRT professional development training and many are now fully indoctrinated.
DEIB member Hailey Barton leads the student group Calling All Colors. Student members are fully on board. In fact, they have created anti-racism lessons which have been given to all high school students during academy class. So those indoctrinated students are now working to indoctrinate their peers. Hailey is working on indoctrinating our high school students.
DEIB member Kara Endsley created a list of diverse books which included Call Me Max (transgender). The list was given directly to all children district wide young 5’s -4th grade. Kara is working on the indoctrination of our 4 to 9 year old children.
DEIB committee leader and district leader Mary Jane Evink volunteers for the Anti-Racism Task Force at the Momentum Center (a community non-profit), and she participated in a panel discussion entitled How Teaching Critical Race Theory In Schools Prepares Youth To Create An Equitable Future. Mary Jane is working on indoctrinating our community.
With just the three DEIB members mentioned they are making great strides.
Hailey Barton focusing on high school students
Kara Endsley focusing on lower elementary
Mary Jane Evink focusing on the community
The committee has 22 members.
While they are working to indoctrinate the staff, students, families and community members through the lens of race, they are working to hide what they are doing from those who believe what they are doing is morally wrong. They claim the GHAPS school board knows what is being taught because the board approved a document titled Pledge for Racial Equity. However, the document has only two board member signatures attached. In addition, in the contract between GHAPS and Deanna Rolffs at Design Group International it states “District leadership commits engaging the board so that they are prepared to explain the relevancy of this work.” This shows that the board is being indoctrinated along with the rest of the community. They are just an early target.
Parents are intentionally shielded from what their children are being taught about racism. For example, the four-part Calling All Colors anti-racism presentation given to all students in academy class purposefully contained videos of students. Due to student privacy laws, staff are not allowed to share these videos with parents, limiting the information provided in regards to what their children are learning. In addition, staff have been instructed to make statements to parents such as CRT is not being taught at GHAPS when in-fact anti-racism is being taught and they are closely related. That is like saying we are not teaching anything about birds but we just finished a six-week lesson on chickens.
During the time between the March and May 2021 professional development sessions middle school staff came together as a group. The principal, Amanda Sorrell made it crystal clear that she would support teachers who believed in Critical Race Theory. She even went so far as to say that she had to re-educate some parents about their white privilege.
Anyone in GHAPS leadership that says GHAPS is not teaching Critical Race Theory concepts is lying or is completely indoctrinated and has no idea what/how the teaching of CRT works. It is essential that EVERYONE educate themselves on the dangers of these ideologies and stand-up to those pushing the agenda. Our children, families, community and country are at stake.
