Recently I was part of a conversation with some parents of kids in GH schools. One parent was telling us about a recent conversation she’d had with with her high schooler:
“Today my daughter admonished me for being pro-life because I asked her what she has heard about abortion in school…..
Kids hear stuff and are influenced, then relate it back to family, and parents, because it’s what they are being programmed to do without even realizing it. Kind of like CAC (Calling all colors)
The progressive world is very good at using language to mean things other than what they are. When you describe the baby as a blob of tissue, it makes it much easier to tell people that eliminating it does no harm, so its your choice. The difference is seeing the pieces in a petri dish with distinguishable arms, legs, fingers and toes is a whole other story. That is why the ultra sound is so effective in telling young mothers to be that it isn’t a blob of tissue, but rather, a tiny human with a beating heart. With the advance of science learning about the unborn child, the abortion industry is losing advocates.”
This reminded me of a situation I’d heard about in GH schools years ago and verified soon after through people who’d had kids in the classroom where it occurred.
About four or five years ago at White Pines Middle school, a 5th grade teacher asked her entire 5th grade classroom (a room full of 10 Year old’s) to imagine themselves being pregnant. Now, for most ten year old children who haven’t even yet experienced puberty, that’s kind of a scary thought, in my humble opinion…but anyways…the story continued……
After she asked them to imagine themselves being pregnant, and held them in that frame of mind, she NEXT asked them to imagine that the baby they were pregnant with was retarded (That was the word this teacher allegedly used, not mine). After she had them imagine the baby these ten year old’s were pregnant with being retarded, she then asked them if it would it be okay to have an abortion, (to snuff the life out of the child). She asked a room full of TEN YEAR OLD KIDS THIS.
Why? Why did she do this?
Actually, before we answer that question…how do we know about it?
It turned out that one of the ten year old children in her classroom had a sibling who was disabled and was very upset with the conversation where her classmates were all getting behind this concept that abortion was good and okay in the case of “retarded” kids. So the child told her parents, word got out, complaints were made.
The teacher was talked to and simply told , “hey, just don’t do that anymore”. That was the end of it. Life went on. She was allowed to continue teaching and influencing kids. Maybe she’s just more careful now?
Back to WHY. What is the importance of taking a room full of 10 years old’s and asking them to imagine being pregnant? Again, a scary thought for any ten year old child. Then add, not only are you pregnant…but your baby isn’t normal…, or “retarded” as she put it. Can you imagine why she did this? Was she attempting to get their young minds to formulate an early judgement on the merits of abortion, through FEAR? She got them to think through a scary situation and then determine the right side based on that………….as TEN YEAR OLDS.
We become startled when our children in middle and high school come and admonish us for a position on whether killing a child in the womb is okay? Most of us don’t tell our ten , eleven and twelve year old’s that people will fight for the right to kill their own offspring while they’re in what’s supposed to be the safest place on earth…their own mamas’s belly…why don’t we do that? Because we want them to grow up well adjusted, so we delay introducing them to horrible realities like that until they’re emotionally mature enough to handle this dark reality.
That’s a conversation for an older teen to have with their own parents. But the problem is, if you’re not having that conversation with your kids, you can almost guarantee some teacher who is a passionate advocate for controversial issues WILL…and they’ll make sure they convince them to choose before you ever get to them.
Talk to your kids, ask GH leadership to TRAIN and then hold teachers accountable for indoctrinating young kids on controversial topics. Hold them accountable to their own written policies.

Please bear in mind, this is NOT ALL GH teachers…not by a mile. Grand Haven has SO MANY GREAT teachers who would NEVER do this. But for the handful that would, make it known that this is unacceptable. Perhaps now is the time to spend our professional development tax dollars training them in this area instead of the tenets of CRT.
