Pride month, antiracism, transgenderism, SEL are facets of the new state-sponsored religion of Wokeism. Every Christian denomination has its own hymns, prayers, rituals and symbolic acts connected to value systems that provide guiding principles of morality. Wokeism works the same way.
June is "pride month;" a "holy" month to those in the LGBTQ “sect” of Wokeism. For Roman Catholics, Eastern, and some Protestant churches, forty weekdays from Ash Wednesday to Easter is the holy period of Lent. Lent is a period of prayer, fasting and giving. It is a time of repentance, to acknowledge sin, separate from sin, and to commit to change. It is a time to sacrifice, to practice self-control over something such as sugar, soda, television or anything in life that may have become an undesirable habit.
Pride month, a celebration full of decorations and color, is the inverse of Lent. Rather than sacrificing or refraining from indulgence, pride month is a month meant to celebrate and indulge in all things LGBTQ. Pride month takes one of the seven deadly sins, and turns it into a virtue. Pride Day could be considered the Wokeism version of Christmas; a celebration of the birth of a movement, and of the faith and adherence to the religion. It even comes with its own children’s book, "Twas The Night Before Pride", borrowed directly from a classic children's book about the Christian holiday of Christmas.
Much like the Christian belief in God comes from faith and not physical proof, transgender belief does the same. Regardless of the sex the doctor "assigned" at birth, it is to be taken on faith alone that a person is whatever they proclaim themselves to be. If a biological male believes himself to be a female, everyone is supposed to believe him and affirm him. Physical proof is not necessary; it is to be taken on faith. It is an act of faith to believe others may not be in the correct body. In fact, this idea separates the physical being from the conscious being. Much like a Christian has a body of this world and a spirit that is separate and will depart upon death, Wokeism believes in a higher power. The transgender higher power is the state, which through edict will bring about a Woke utopia founded on social justice, providing their version of heaven.
We are all sinners according to Christianity, and in the religion of Wokeism, we are all racists. One of the evangelist-equivalents to Billy Graham for the Antiracism sect of Wokeism is Ibram X. Kendi, the author of the book “How to Be An Antiracist”. The term “racist”, according to Kendi, “…is descriptive, and the only way to undo racism is to constantly identify it and describe it - and then dismantle it. The attempt to turn this usefully descriptive term into an almost unusable slur is, of course, designed to do the opposite: to freeze us into inaction.”
Let’s borrow this, and substitute sin and sinner into this statement. “Sinner is descriptive, and the only way to undo sin is to constantly identify it and describe it - and then dismantle (reject and repent) it.” Confess your sins, ask for forgiveness, and resist temptation in the future, and you can be redeemed. Confess your racism, ask for forgiveness, and resist temptation in the future, and you can be redeemed. Kendi further states that it isn’t enough to be “not racist”, but the opposite of a racist is an antiracist. There is no neutrality in the racism struggle. In other words, it isn’t enough to do good acts alone, you must also have faith. Only through faith in Antiracism, according to Kendi, white people can be saved and redeemed. Through full submission to this higher power will his students find salvation.
Kendi further states “The only remedy to racist discrimination is antiracist discrimination. The only remedy to past discrimination is present discrimination. The only remedy to present discrimination is future discrimination.” Christians are sinners who can’t be saved through ourselves but through Jesus Christ. Kendi believes that Antiracists are sinners that will be saved through government intervention. He believes that the higher power of government can bring about salvation through the enforcement of policies that ensure present discrimination atones for past discrimination, and future discrimination will atone for present discrimination. Once again, the religion of Wokeism believes that salvation will be found in a man-made utopia here on Earth.
Of course, no religion is complete without fellowship and programs to help the youth. The church of Wokeism has that covered, as well. Its version of Sunday school service for children is known as social emotional learning (SEL). SEL is a coordinated hub of critical theory (Marxian) teachings wrapped in lessons that will supposedly help children “acquire and apply the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to develop healthy identities, manage emotions and achieve personal and collective goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain supportive relationships, and make responsible and caring decisions.” It borrows from the works of the religion’s prophets, such as Judith Butler’s queer theory (developing identities), Derek Bell’s critical race theory (power and privilege), and Marxist conflict ideals as well.
In Ottawa County, through the Ottawa County Schools Network, the religion of Wokeism’s Sunday School equivalent is offering lessons through the Conscious Discipline curriculum. In a Christian Sunday School, children may sing songs such as Jesus Loves Me, Jesus Loves the Little Children, and He’s Got the Whole World In His Hands. Following the Conscious Discipline curriculum, which is a form of SEL, children sing “I love you” rituals, to the tune of classic children’s songs such as Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star, and Peter, Peter, Pumpkin Eater.
In Christian faiths, you may see a congregation or group “lay hands” on someone in prayer. Here is an example of the Elders of the AME Church laying hands on then-Senator Barack Obama in prayer:
This is eerily similar to the image on the front page of the Conscious Discipline website.
Bob Dylan wrote, “It may be the Devil or it may be the Lord, But you’re gonna have to serve somebody” in his song “Gotta Serve Somebody”, written in 1979. Whether the higher power is God, Mother Nature, Earth, the Devil, or possibly government, the overwhelming majority of people believe in something higher than, or above themselves. As the belief in God and religion has waned, other entities have taken its place. For many, that higher power is a new religion of Wokeism. The higher power in this religion is a compliant government that can implement religious beliefs and guide followers into utopia. While professing faith in the value system of DEI, followers turn to the government as the leader to guide them to the ideal. Believers seek to convert as many as possible and are quick to submit to local, state and national governments that align with the belief system, thereby implementing policy that codifies this religion into law.
The faith given to government, to “provide” for the believers, to protect, or establish a covenant with Earth and its inhabitants to preserve its environment, to bless the faithful, to find favor with the faithful or chosen people, are all tenets similar to those of the Christian religion that have been adopted by Wokeism. With Wokeism however, there is no constitutional separation of church and state. State is the church, church is the state. The Woke synthesis of church and state is the higher power that can bring about their utopian critical social justice heaven on Earth. Only through sacrifice, faith, and submission will the believers find salvation. Proudly, devotees are lambs of their God, lambs of D.E.I., or “Agnus DEI.”
