In the late summer of 2021 parents across the country began to notice age-inappropriate books available to students through school libraries. It turns out Grand Haven was no exception. Parents discovered the GHAPS libraries have many age-inappropriate books. After bringing this issue to the attention of the school board, parents were directed to speak with the Director of Instructional Services Mary Jane Evink. Parents were stunned when GHAPS leaders were not concerned by the pornographic material available to children, but proceeded to endorse it.
