Grand Haven residents, is this where we are heading?
I took a look at the Farmington Public Schools website today. It's located in the metro Detroit area. The Strategic Plan for the District doesn't mention academics at all. Their priority is equity and innovation.
Here is a link to the Farmington School District’s 2020-2021 429-page Equity Audit Report. The report discusses the district's progress in implementing CRT, SEL, Trauma Training, privilege, power, RP (Restorative Practices) and JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion). It talks of student marginalization and discriminatory hiring practices implemented to ensure employees have the proper average blend of skin tones.
The Farmington District has a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion department and a full-time employee, Gregory Smith, whose sole responsibility is to oversee Diversity Equity, Inclusion & Justice implementation. They have been members of the Minority Student Achievement Network (MSAN) since 2004, and work with community organizations such as Multicultural Multiracial Council of Farmington (MCMR).
Farmington School District has been at this since at least 2006. The website contained little information about educating children. Here's the link if you want to take a look. GHAPS is not there yet, but if our focus on non-academics continues it won’t take long.
