With the holiday season upon us we at Restore Ottawa wanted to take this opportunity to share some of the things we are thankful for. First, we are thankful for our readers and the community support. We know Restore Ottawa articles frequently expose darkness. It can sometimes be difficult to hear the truth, but it is essential the public knows what is happening. We are thankful that we have the freedom to share what we have discovered. We are thankful we have the ability to easily reach other caring individuals, and we are thankful there is a steadily growing community of people who are gaining a true understanding of what is happening locally, nationally and internationally.
We are thankful for the enthusiastic, caring teachers and staff who work tirelessly for our children. At Restore Ottawa we have occasionally been accused of being anti-teacher. That is not true. We are anti-ideology being taught in schools, and the same being perpetrated with other forms of taxpayer money. We are thankful for teachers who resist the temptation to share their personal beliefs and lifestyles with students. We are thankful for the teacher who told the 10-year-old child that she would not tell him who she voted for.
We are thankful for our Constitution and our great American Republic. All citizens are entitled to their own beliefs and all citizens should be free to express their opinions. Unfortunately, there are many employed by GHAPS that do not feel comfortable expressing their opinions about the current state of affairs within GHAPS. We know. We talked to many of you when we were door knocking during the election season. We are so thankful for you. We are thankful that you are standing up for our children, and we want you to have your voice back.
We are thankful that GHAPS is focusing more on academics this year. We are thankful that Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) are part of the education process at GHAPS, and we are thankful to former board member Barb Pietrangelo for her influence in this area. We are thankful that teachers are working together and excited about PLCs.
We are thankful for the teachers who provide enrichment opportunities for their students. We are thankful for the teachers who partner with parents and maintain professional relationships in their classrooms. We are thankful for the teachers who take the time to email parents and let them know what their student did in class. We are thankful for the teachers who take student’s interests to new heights. We are thankful for all the encouragement teachers give to students.
Here's a comment from the Parent Perception Survey that shows the way most parents feel. “Teachers and staff are juggling SO many priorities but when you walk in the building, you notice immediately the fact that they ALL care about these kiddos and their well-being. I just want to shout out that this has meant a lot to us as a family!”
We feel it’s only fitting to close this article and this year with a comment from a teacher. This comment came from the Teacher Perception Survey and shows how teachers feel.
“I loved the video where students shared things they love about teachers-- it reminds us of our why! Touched my heart. Sometimes I get so wrapped up in curriculum that I forget to look at the little, sweet faces in front of me, and any reminders to look up and see them are good! They are what truly matter.”
Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
